Mr. Nelson George Mwanga; BBLT, COP, DHOS, MCPC is the Country Manager of BioTranslate International. He is a Ugandan born, educated and based in Uganda with a huge breadth of expertise ranging from Laboratory Medicine, Life insurance sales, Hospital and Healthcare Management, Hotel Management, Laboratory supplies sales and marketing, Community Based Disease Surveillance (CBDS) and entrepreneurship attained in Uganda. He is a passionate leader, team player, mentor and hardworking optimist who believes in bettering self every day and tapping into and bringing out the best in others. His motivation is derived from his humble background and academic journey. He attended Iganga Boys Boarding Primary School, St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) for both O and A Levels. He later joined Makerere University Kampala to pursue a Bachelors’ of science degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology. While at campus he was the President of Makerere University Biomedical Laboratory Students Association (MUBLTSA). During his tenure he managed augment the working relationship between the students, staff and alumni and this was vividly evidenced when together with his team, they managed to mobilize a record number of college students, staff and alumni to come together and network during their handover dinner.
He initially worked in Countryside Innovations Network (CIN) as the City Resort Executive branch manager and achieved to steer it into the best hotel in Butaleja district. His passion for leadership and driving societal change led to a Postgraduate diploma in Hospital and Healthcare Management (DHOS) at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) in order to marry the hotel management experience with his biomedical training. His interest in promoting economic prosperity led him to pursue a certificate of proficiency in Insurance and work as a sales agent with the Jubilee Life Insurance Company of Uganda on freelance basis. He has also had a short stint with Ministry of Health Uganda as a facilitator in Community Based Disease Surveillance in the districts bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo during the successful fight against Ebola in late 2018. His love to help others who are less fortunate and also his interest to understand why people behave the way they do has led him to pursue a Masters’ degree in Clinical and Psychological Counselling (MCPC) from University of Kisubi (UNIK) and this has already led to opportunities of internship with Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO Uganda) an NGO in Uganda whose niche is in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). In addition, he is an enterprising farmer. His experience is indispensable to the success of BioTranslate International owing to his many diverse and transferable skills and experiences. In his role, he oversees the operation of the organization according to the program areas at national level in order to enhance and sustain the Science for Social Impact Movement.
