Dr Aloysious

Dr Aloysious Ssemaganda is a Co-Founder and Head Capacity Building, Health and Education of BioTranslate International. Aloysious is an Infectious disease researcher with demonstrated experience in pre-clinical and clinical studies, molecular biology, epidemiology, and vaccines. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical laboratory Technology and MSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Makerere University, Kampala as well as a PhD in Molecular Immunology, parasitology and Vaccinology from Griffith University, Australia. He is currently pursuing a Post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Manitoba, Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases exploring the role of regulatory T cells, cytokines and microbiome in protection against HIV and sexually transmitted infections in the female genital tract. Aloysious has over 10 years’ experience working with Uganda Virus Research Institute – International AIDS Vaccine Initiative HIV Vaccine Program focused on developing research implementation plans, schedules and budgets, developing research methodologies and protocols as well as conducting basic sciences research into the development and optimization of functional immuno-assays for use in vaccine studies. Furthermore, he as vast experience in training and mentoring scientists and students within Uganda and abroad on the use and application of Immuno-assays.
